This story follows main characters:

Harper O’Malley: a sweet loveable character. She works at a pet shelter rescuing animals, without batting an eye Harper is willing to put herself in harm’s way for any animal. She was also adopted into the O’Malley family on her 11th birthday. However, she doesn’t feel like she completely belongs or even is worthy enough for her new family’s love.

Ridley Estes: a handsome football player. His high school’s biggest partier, but is he really? Ridley tries to make ends meet for his family. He doesn’t have a life as easy as everyone seems to think. He is such an incredibly sweet character and you will surely fall in love with him.

Story Overview:

Our story starts out with a dinner/team meal at the O’Malley’s house. Harper’s father is the local college’s football coach. The team is teasing Harper about her new crush at school– James Levin. Enter Ridley Estes one of Harper’s father’s football prospects. He is a senior at Harper’s high school. Harper has one thing on her mind and that’s to get James Levin to notice her. She enlists Ridley’s help to give her a crash course on all things relationships. While in return Harper must help him with his struggling school grades. One day Harper’s ‘perfect world’ comes crashing down when her father gets into a motorcycle accident with a woman on the back. This leaves Harper’s whole world turned upside down. She has to deal with the press, her past, and now her future. All while trying to juggle being in high school, developing feelings for boys, and keeping up with rescuing animals. This story is told from the  point of view of Harper.

My Thoughts:

Another gorgeous book boyfriend…. Ridley Estes. I really loved the chemistry and interactions between the two main characters Harper and Ridley. One of my favorite parts was when Harper finds herself in a sticky situation while attempting to rescue a dog. Ridley then saves the day saving multiple lives that night.

I completely adored Ridley’s relationship with his two little sisters. He would take a bullet for those two before he would let anything happen to them.

Another thing that stood out in this book was Harper’s strength. It is something to really admire, she is someone that has dealt with an extreme amount of pain and suffering. Yet Harper is still as strong as ever. The thing that really broke my heart while reading this book was the fact that Harper didn’t think she belonged in her family. She believed as if she was a burden on her family and that she was nothing like them.

All in all this story is one with a lot of heart, laughter, sadness, and intense moments. I really loved all of the characters interactions with each other. I would definitely recommend this book to others and I give it 5/5 stars.
